About Our Products
What are MTG tokens?
In Magic: The Gathering, tokens are cards that represent creatures or artifacts created during gameplay. They are typically produced by other cards: Krenko, Mob Boss creates Goblin tokens. Smothering Tithe creates Treasure tokens. When those cards resolve, you put a token on the table to represent the new creature or artifact.
Official tokens come with booster packs and are functional. Our tokens are custom replacements: the same game-legal token card, with original art that makes your board state look considerably more interesting.
All our tokens are the same standard card size (63 x 88 mm), and printed on S33 premium black-core cardstock which is the same weight as an MTG card - lovely!
Our cards are normal sleeve-compatible and tournament legal.

What is a Netrunner alt art card?
Netrunner is a two-player card game published by Null Signal Games.
Alt art cards are alternative art versions of official cards: same card text, same game function, different illustration. The Netrunner community has a long tradition of alt arts, typically circulated at tournaments as prizes or traded between players.
Our alt art cards are available to buy directly, without needing to attend a tournament to win them.
We print them on the same S33 cardstock as NSG, exactly the same standard card size (63 x 88 mm). Tournament legal in Startup, Standard, and Eternal formats.
Are these official cards? Are they licensed?
No, our cards are not official products licensed by Wizards of the Coast or Null Signal Games. They are original fan artwork by independent artists (us), sold as art objects and game accessories. This is a well-established category in the TCG community.
For MTG tokens: our tokens are original artwork to be used as an accessory in the standard card format. They are tournament legal because they meet the format requirements for tokens (correct size, opaque cardstock, unambiguous identification).
For Netrunner alt art: our cards are tournament legal in all current formats. The card back does not affect legality; alt art with custom backs has been legal in Netrunner since the NSG era.
Are your cards tournament legal?
Yes. All our cards are printed on S33 premium black-core cardstock at standard card size (63 x 88 mm) and are sleeve-compatible. They meet tournament requirements for both Magic: The Gathering (for tokens) and Netrunner (for alt art cards, in Startup, Standard, and Eternal).
If you are unsure whether a specific card is legal at a specific event, we recommend checking the format rules or asking your TO. In our experience, players who bring our cards to events have never had issues.
What cardstock do you use?
S33 premium black-core cardstock. Black-cored means the card back does not bleed through when held to the light, which is a legal requirement for tournament play. The stock has the right weight and flex for TCG cards: it shuffles well, sleeving is straightforward, and it holds up to regular use.
What sizes are your cards?
Standard card size: 63 x 88 mm. This is the size of official Magic: The Gathering and Netrunner cards. All our products fit standard sleeves.
What are our MTG token styles?
At the moment we have four main styles of tokens, but are always open to creative ideas and commissions :)
The styles are:
- Medieval: inspired by real illuminated manuscripts and historical woodcuts. Restored through archival research, with a distinctive historical reference in every design.
- Fantasy: bold, painterly, full colour. Expressive illustration with visual presence on the table.
- Typographic: graphic design led. High contrast, strong letterforms, each token with a distinct visual treatment.
- Alphabet: one letter per creature. Clean, playful, immediately legible. Built for board states where you need a pile of matching tokens.
What are the Netrunner collections?
We create one-off alt arts and Netrunner collections. Most contain 6 alt art designs as full playsets (18 cards total); Colour Palette is different, with 10 individual identity cards instead.
At the moment we have seven collections of alt arts, but are always open to creative ideas and commissions :)
- Grey Area (Set 1): the staples set. Illustrated by Zoe.
- Op Art (Set 2): geometric, high-contrast design. Designed by Rosie.
- Send It! (Set 3): runner-forward energy. Designed by Rosie.
- Colour Palette (Set 4): colour-focused design. Artist-designed.
- Breaking In (Set 5): expressive, textured illustration. Illustrated by Zoe.
- Creative Commission (Set 6): varied approaches, mixed media. Made by Rosie and Zoe.
- Snack Attack (Set 7): nature-horror inspired illustration. Illustrated by Zoe. Our newest release (March 2026).
Ordering
What is a playset?
A playset is 3 copies of a single card: the maximum you can run in any Netrunner format (Startup, Standard, or Eternal). When we list Netrunner cards as "playsets," we mean 3 copies in one purchase. That is exactly what you need for a legal deck.
What is a "complete set"?
A complete set (also called a mega pack) contains 6 playsets (3 copies of 6 different cards) plus 1 exclusive set card that is only available in the complete set. It is everything in one collection, in one order, at a discount compared to buying playsets individually.
What is a "duo bundle"?
A duo bundle is 2 playsets together: 3 copies each of 2 paired cards, sold together at a slight discount. We pair cards that commonly appear in the same deck together.
How do I pick the right token for my Commander deck?
Start with the creature types your commander produces. Krenko, Mob Boss makes Goblins: you want a lot of them, so the Alphabet series (fast, readable, stackable) is practical, but the Medieval series looks extraordinary. Smothering Tithe makes Treasures: the Typographic Treasure is particularly strong for this.
If you want our recommendation: pick the style that matches the aesthetic of the rest of your deck. Medieval tokens feel at home in a gothic or historical Commander deck. Fantasy tokens suit anything with a high-fantasy flavour. Typographic and Alphabet tokens are great for functional elegance.
If you are unsure, email us or message us on Instagram and we will give you an honest recommendation based on your deck.
Do you do custom tokens?
Commissions are open. If you want a token type we do not currently make, or a bespoke design for your specific deck, reach us at thetagmill@gmail.com. We do take on custom work and enjoy the brief. Turnaround times vary, so reach out early if you have a deadline.
What is "booster pack" format for MTG tokens?
Our token booster packs contain 10 tokens (mixed from a style's full range) plus a sticker. It is a way to sample the range or add variety to your token collection without selecting individual creature types.

Shipping
Where do you ship?
We ship worldwide from Birmingham, UK.
How long does delivery take?
UK: typically 3-5 working days.
Europe: typically 7-14 working days.
US, Canada, Australia: typically 10-21 working days.
These are estimates based on typical Royal Mail times.
Delays can happen, particularly around busy postal periods.
Want it faster? Tracked 24 usually reaches UK addresses the next working day after we post it, and International Tracked takes around 3 to 7 working days.
Is shipping tracked?
Standard UK orders go by Royal Mail second class and international orders by Royal Mail International Standard, both without tracking. If you'd like tracking, choose Tracked 24 (UK) or International Tracked at checkout. Both are quicker as well.
How are cards packaged?
Cards are packaged in protective sleeves and sent flat in a rigid envelope with cardboard backing to prevent bending. We take packaging seriously. Several customers have specifically mentioned how carefully orders were packaged, and we include a hand-written note with most orders because we think that matters.
Do you ship to the US?
Yes. US orders typically arrive within 10-21 working days. Any US import duties are added at checkout, so there is nothing extra to pay when your parcel arrives.
Returns and Issues
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact us at thetagmill@gmail.com with a photo of the damage as soon as possible. We will sort it out. Either a replacement or a refund, whichever you prefer. We have never left a customer without a resolution.
Can I return cards?
If there is a problem with your order, absolutely: contact us and we will make it right. You have 14 days from receiving your product to make a return. No fuss.
The best approach is always to email us directly rather than opening a case through the platform.
What if my order has not arrived?
Check your tracking first if you selected tracked shipping. If your order is significantly overdue (more than 30 days for international), please contact us and we will investigate. Royal Mail international orders occasionally experience delays, but we will always work to resolve a lost parcel.
About the Studio
Who makes the art?
Rosie and Zoe, the two co-owners of The Tag Mill. We both work on designs, with different strengths: Zoe on illustration-led work and Rosie on graphic design-led work. Some collections or series are primarily made by one of us; some are collaborations.
Is this AI art?
No. Every design in this shop is made by Rosie or Zoe on a digital tablet using professional illustration and design software. No AI generation tools are used at any stage: not for sketching, not for colouring, not for finishing. We use digital tools the same way a traditional artist uses a brush.
We are deliberately and explicitly not using AI, for reasons that matter to us as artists and as community members. See our About page for the longer version.
What does "zero AI" mean?
It means exactly what it says. Zero AI involvement in the artwork: no image generation, no AI upscaling, no AI inpainting. The art is human-made from start to finish.
Where can I find you in person?
We attend events across the UK throughout the year, including CommandFest, UK Games Expo, and Netrunner District and Megacity Championships. Follow us on Instagram at @thetagmill for event announcements as they happen.
Can I contact you about a wholesale order or event collaboration?
Yes. Email us at thetagmill@gmail.com with the details and we will get back to you.
